Aruba: Eat
Aruba has a unique blend of cultures to go with the Americanization of the island. Expect Caribbean flavors mixed with some European (Dutch) influences. Here's my list of best places to eat.
Best View
Faro Blanco: Right next to the California Lighthouse is this restaurant, set looking over basically the entire island. The food is on the expensive side and tasted how I expected a burger to taste like, but the view is stunning, and makes every bite worth it.
Best Seafood
Zeerovers may be a tourist trap, but it's for a great reason. You walk into the restaurant and order your fish along with sides, and sit wherever. Pro tip, as beautiful as the seating inside the actual restaurant is, there is seating out on a little pier that's truly picturesque. The seafood is the freshest, most flavorful I've ever tasted and writing this now is making my mouth water it was that good. Going to Aruba and not going to Zeerovers should be considered a crime.
Best Overall
Barefoot is where we went for Christmas Eve dinner and it was the best meal we had on the island. They take your shoes on entry and leave your bare feet to the sand. After we sat down, out of no where it started to rain, but the staff knew exactly what to do (random showers are relatively common on Aruba). They immediately cleared the chairs and tables, rushed everyone inside, and we just hung out for the 15 minute downpour. And sure enough, as the sun set over the horizon, the planes banked left and towards the runway, a seemingly over-saturated rainbow revealed itself. It made for an incredibly stunning backdrop to my perfectly cooked rack of lamb and glass of wine. Highly recommend making a visit to this restaurant, it won't disappoint. Great food, great service, great views. What more could you ask for?
