Dubai

Dubai sucks. But its also incredible. Its sleazy and spectacular. Its overpriced and opulent. Its pretentious and phenomenal. Dubai isn’t trying to be anything beyond a money-grabbing destination, and it does so in the best of ways. Here’s what we did in our 4 days in Dubai.

Where to eat Thai food with a view: Thiptara

Located right on the water’s edge with views of the Dubai Fountain and the Burj Khalifa is Thiptara. Eating expensive Thai food feels like a sin because the best Thai food is good old street food, but this place does it right. Sure, it’s overpriced, but its Dubai and you have seriously amazing views so just shut up and deal with it.

Where to eat breakfast with the grand daddy of all views: At.mosphere

I think somewhere deep down in the early days of this blog, I have an entire post dedicated to this restaurant. Its basically a better way to see the view of the city without paying for just the observation deck. Here, you pay for breakfast (pricey but for what you get, I’d say it’s worth it) and you get the world’s highest restaurant view on the side.

Where to lounge on a beach with some sushi: White Beach Club

Located at the Atlantis Resort, this is a phenomenal beach club with calm, crystal clear water, amazing sushi and Bellinis, fantastic music and just an overall great vibe. I’d highly recommend shelling out and getting a cabana for the day - gives you extra space to lounge around and do your thing in. Oh, and the hookah was fire.

Where to see the future: Museum of Future

Initially, this place was a bit cheesy to me. It felt like I was in some sort of Disneyland ride “teleporting” me to the future. But, as I walked through all the rooms of the museum, I found myself liking it more and more. Just the concept itself is almost oxymoronic, which I got a kick out of (museums are for the past, and yet this is a museum for the future). Plus architecturally, this building is absolutely awesome.

Where to dine with the best view of the Burj Khalifa: C’est La Vi

The food here is incredible, cocktails are superb and very creative, and the views are the cherry on top. Definitely a great restaurant to visit while in Dubai - also great at night for a little party action.

Where to have Middle Eastern food while in the Middle East: Al Safadi The Pointe

On my last night in Dubai, I realized I didn’t have middle eastern food in my 4 days there. French, Thai, Indian, American - had it all, but no middle eastern. So I went here with a friend and I was in heaven honestly. The food was superb, hookah was great, and views over the palm and Atlantis were also wonderful.

We also went to the Dubai EXPO on this trip which was super impressive. The exhibition has ended, so I’m not going to go into any detail beyond just these photos. Please enjoy.
