Big Sur

Take a drive up the legendary Pacific Coast Highway and check out this world-renowned natural destination, known for its hikes, waterfalls and dramatic coastline. We only spent a couple days in the area, so here’s what I recommend you must do.

McWay Falls

Located in the Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, this place has been high on my California bucket list for far too long. A stunning waterfall crashing directly onto a beautiful, half-moon shaped beach with beautiful blue waves crashing over scattered rocks in the sea? Yeah. It’s a legendary photo spot as well, and only about a 20 minute walk from the parking lot that basically anybody can do! There is an entry fee in cash to the park so be ready for that (100% worth it, I promise).

Doesn’t get much more beautiful and iconic as this right here.

Buzzard’s Trail

This is a beautiful trail we did that goes over a river, up through massive trees and ends up at a great viewpoint overlooking the rolling hills of the region. It’s not too difficult, and allocate a few hours to do the entire hike!

Big trees are big, and they’re everywhere around here!

Bixby Creek Bridge

Make sure to make a pit stop here and check out this iconic bridge. The views and photos are classic California with graceful architecture in a magnificent setting.

Just Drive

This portion of PCH is literally one of, if not the most beautiful drives anywhere in the world. It’s the mainland’s version of The Road to Hana on Maui, and honestly arguably cooler. There are tons of little viewpoints you can pull over at and admire the stunning coastline of the best state in the United States, so spend an afternoon just enjoying this beautiful road (safely!)
