New York for Labor Day Weekend

There really is always something going on in New York. And that is VERY true for Labor Day Weekend. Here’s what we did:

US Open

First and foremost, we spent an afternoon at the US Open. We got the grounds tickets and spent around 10 hours here total. You gotta experience the American Express Experience Center, get a famous Honey Deuce, and just bounce around as much as you can to see all the great matches. Each court has its own unique vibe and viewing experience, so even if players who aren’t that interesting are playing, still try and make your way to as many courts and matches as you can. The energy on the grounds here is really just fantastic, and its easily reachable by the subway or LIRR from Manhattan!

Electric Zoo

We also went to Electric Zoo for a day, which ended up becoming a nightmarish event. We went on Sunday, and paid about $50 extra for VIP. WE ended up having a great experience, saw a lot of great DJs, dealt with a few but manageable enough crowds for a big event, and had no problems getting to/from the event. But, with that said, Friday got cancelled in entirety (stages were not ready), and the crowds lead to some insane moments that we did not notice on Sunday. Regardless, it was a really fun event in my opinion!

Now for some of the restaurants and bars we hit:

Eyval

Eyval is the BEST Persian restaurant in America, and I stand by that. It’s elevated Persian food (aka the best cuisine in the world), which is something I have not seen anywhere else in the world (outside of Iran). The space is super cute, and the drinks are also insane. The saffron martini is one of the strongest and most intense drinks I have ever tasted! And be sure to order the koobideh, lamb and the saffron rose ice cream sandwich.

Au Cheval

Au Cheval has become a staple in the vast New York food scene, and really for one reason. The burger. And boy does it live up to its hype! Get it with that THICK cut bacon and the egg for the full experience.

230 Fifth

230 Fifth is a quintessential tourist trap and I unabashedly LOVE it! The views are incredible, the drinks are overpriced and fun, and the layout/decor is perfect for larger parties looking for a perfect insta. Do I recommend going out of your way to visit? No. BUT, if you happen to be in this part of midtown, why not check it out?!

So if you are thinking of a place to visit over Labor Day, think no further than New York. It’s really got it all. Plus, the weather is usually manageably hot. Usually.
