Le Toison D'Or

So we went with a rather unique route for staying in a hotel in St. Tropez. You think of St. Tropez, and you think of all the glitz and glamor of the French Riviera. Us? We stayed at a glorified trailer park on the beach. Here are the thoughts.

Location: B+

Its right on the beach! Walking distance to the beach clubs! So that’s a huge plus. But, it is a 10-15 minute drive to get into town, so if you don’t have a car (we did) it could be a bit of a hassle with the pricey cabs and Ubers in the area. 

Rooms: B

Biggest perk here is we upgraded to one right on the beach. For the price point, this is totally worth it, so splurge a bit! But book in advance because these deals sell out very quickly. Other than the beachfront location of our room, it is really quite small, and almost feels like you’re staying in a cabin on a yacht or something. But, it works, and its like 855 cheaper than most hotels in the area.

Dining: ?

We didn’t have any meals at the hotel, so can not comment. And if you’re staying here, I wouldn’t eat here anyway. There are SO many must see spots in the area (Nikki Beach is nearby and was fantastic)

Service: A-

Look, this might seem high for the type of hotel, but everyone was great! We came friends with the gate guard, the check in lady was super fun (she was the one that upgraded us - plus gave us champagne!), and every encounter we had (albeit only a few) was just as bubbly as the champagne. 

Amenities: B

Like I said, its a glorified trailer park. With that said, there’s a lot of space and the property itself is really massive. You’ll find a little bit of everything kind of scattered all around (pools, gyms, putting greens, etc.) but it is quite unorganized and not necessarily high quality, so don’t expect too much here.

Scene

Almost exclusively families, so be warned. The property has a ton of 2 and 3 bedroom options for a great value, so this was not surprise to me. But yeah, don’t expect any couples. You’ll also find a good amount of 18-22 year olds having a good time.
