COMO Point Yamu

After a couple days on a boat exploring the islands, I decided to book us a night at the COMO Point Yamu. This is one of the only luxury hotels over on the east side of the island, which works well if you’re going to be heading out on boat trips to the islands - plus, it was close to the airport. Here’s what we thought of the property.

Location: B

The views are incredible and its close enough to the airport and the marinas, but far from everything else on Phuket. There is also no beach onsite, although COMO does have a private island accessed via ferry. So if you want to just escape and maybe go on a few boat trips, I guess the COMO location is solid for you, but overall, not the best option I’d say.

Rooms: A

Holy shit. We booked the COMO Suite and it did NOT disappoint. This room was beautifully appointed, perfectly designed, the most comfortable bed, plenty of storage, great water pressure, and spectacular views from multiple terraces. It genuinely is one of the very few times I have gasped when walking into a room thanks to how stunning it was. There is also a jacuzzi our on the terrace which was just perfect for watching the sunset.

Amenities: B+

No on-site beach is a bummer. This is Phuket, a beach destination. Yes, there’s a hotel ferry to a private beach club on an island, but that’s just a hassle. Otherwise, there is a beautiful spa with multiple rooms and pools to choose from, a well-equipped gym with great views, and one of the most spectacular pools I have ever seen. Just look at these photos.

Dining: B+

Nothing special at all, and not to mention, everywhere was just dead quiet, which felt very awkward. Breakfast was pretty good, so I’ll give them credit there, but otherwise I felt as though the menu was a little uninspiring and bland.

Service: A

Like I said, the place was empty, so everyone at the hotel was more than eager to help out with whatever we needed. The staff were really wonderful here, no complaints at all from my end.
