Bangkok: Drink

Bangkok is infamous for its nightlife scene. The diversity of options here is honestly incredible, so no matter what type of way you enjoy poisoning your body, Bangkok has an option for you. Here are some of my favorite places to go out:

Classy drinks:

TEP Bar: Located in Chinatown, you’ll find a bunch of great, local, trendy bars around TEP Bar, all of which I recommend honestly. But this place takes the cake. Sublime decor, almost sexually tasting drinks and the vibiest of music make this a must visit in Bangkok (and an ideal date spot too).

#FindTheLockerRoom: We all love a good speakeasy. For awesome drinks in a fun, hidden setting, go here. I’m not going to reveal how the bar is found, you’ll have to just discover it for yourself as I did.

Rabbit Hole: For the most unique drinks in the city, look no further than Rabbit Hole. It truly has the most bizarre variety of concoctions you could imagine, so no matter how strong or sweet you like it, you’ll find a unique version of it at Rabbit Hole.

Havana Social: Come here for the mojito, stay for the great Spanish music. Located on the bustling Soi 11, Havana Social is a great spot for a night out (and they also serve some seriously awesome Cubanos, if you want some food to go with you fifth mojito).

J.Boroski: The deal here is simple - tell the waitress what flavor you like and what alcohol you prefer. For me, I was in the mood for something spicy, a little sour, and with tequila. Whatever the drink the bartender (Mr. Boroski himself) made, was easily a top 10 cocktail I’ve ever had.

Not-so-classy drinks:

Jack’s Bar: This Bangkok staple is located right on the river and is an ideal place to knock down a few beers while watching the river cruises float on by. It almost felt like I was in Krabi for a second, with a more backpacker, rough-and-tough but also trendy and quirky vibe, and I absolutely loved it. The waiters here are also funny guys, adding to the entertainment of this place.

Shakariki: With many locations scattered around the city, you come here for one reason and one reason only: all you can drink options - and also late night munchies I guess. Great for both the pregame and the postgame.

Rooftop Drinks

Tichuca: This recent addition to the legendary Bangkok rooftop bar scene quickly became me and my group of friend’s favorite rooftop bar in the city. With a jungle-themed design and views out over the city, plus bartenders that will take pulls of tequila with you, I guarantee you’ll be in for a treat here.

Above Eleven: A classy but not annoyingly stuffy option for those with a more refined taste, Above Eleven provides a beautifully designed rooftop bar with a wonderful selection of drinks and snacks, and some of the best views in the city. Also, be sure to go to the bathroom here, especially if you’re a guy. It’ll be the coolest piss you’ve ever had.

Nest: Yes, the drinks here are solid and the views are great. But you come here to lounge on one of their day beds and enjoy some hookah with some girls. Plus, if the city is in lockdown, you can count on these guys still finding a way to be open.

Octave: Arguably the most dramatic rooftop on this list thanks to its 360 degree views out in every direction over the city. The entire complex is quite large, with a couple restaurants and this multilevel lobby occupying the top floors of the Marriott Bangkok, so you’ll have plenty of seating options depending on what your vibe is.

Mahanakhon Skybar: The grand-daddy of them all. This is the highest bar in the city, located in the beautiful Mahanakhon Tower, Thailand’s tallest building. It’s the perfect (albeit very pricey) place to enjoy drinks and take in the view of Bangkok. Just be sure to have Anouilh drinks to get the liquid courage needed to take a step out onto the glass-bottom cantilevered edge!
