Qatar vs. ana business class
These are the two main competitors when it comes to business class supremacy in the skies. No other product comes remotely close to ANA and Qatar, but between these two, who wins? Here’s my take.
Seat: ANA
It’s absolutely massive. I’ve never seen a seat this wide, let alone one on a plane. You could easily fit two people in this seat. Both seats have privacy doors, plenty of storage and solid padding, but just the sheer size of ANA’s seat makes it impossible to beat in business class.
Bed: ANA
Again, as wide as the seat is, its just too hard to beat it. I was comfortable switching positions while sleeping. Now, if I was flying with a girlfriend/wife, Qatar might have the edge with the ability to combine beds to sleep together. But as a solo traveler, ANA wins.
Entertainment: Qatar
The ANA seat had a larger, more crisp television, but the actual entertainment system on board Qatar was just far superior. Way more options and much easier to use and navigate.
Food: Qatar
Qatar kind of dominates here actually. Dine on Demand with Qatar is a huge plus, and the food itself has a much higher quality. I appreciate the unique flavors ANA has in its food offerings, but I just found Qatar to be far superior in their quality and flexibility.
Service: Qatar
And in my last category, Qatar breaks the tie for the win here. The service is truly impeccable. I remember both my flight attendants from Bangkok to Doha and Doha to Paris (Xavier and Rana). They made sure I had everything I needed and were incredibly friendly in the process.
Additionally, I’d have to give the lounge to Qatar as well. Their Doha lounge is just absurd (almost to a fault in my opinion), whereas ANA’s Tokyo lounge will feel outdated by next year.
So there you have it! For pure hard product, wanting nothing other than the best seat, I would go ANA, but for the whole experience of flying business class, Qatar reigns supreme in the skies.
