Hong kong for the weekend
Taipei got boring quickly. Not gonna sugarcoat it at all. I wanted out after two weeks. Thankfully, one of the least boring cities in the world is a 1.5 hour flight away. Add in a few friends who were in Hong Kong, and I had to jump on a $150 roundtrip deal. Here’s what I did my third time in Hong Kong.
Where I stayed: This AirBnB

This is a beautiful apartment in an average location that is still missing some key elements. The shower head was not working, there were boxes left around the place, the TV does not work, and the patio area, as well as all windows, are closed due to renovation. But, it's very expansive and modern, a rarity in this city. Plus, location is very safe and beds are comfortable.
Where to eat brunch (and cure that hangover): Green Waffle Diner
Finding good comfort food in Asia is rare (although becoming gradually more popular thanks to social media), which makes the Green Waffle Diner an absolute gem. Get some bacon, fried chicken and waffles, and try to keep it down, which some of us failed to do thanks to the night before.
Where to eat brunch (for the Instagram): NOC Graham Street
Located right next to the Green Waffle Diner, this is a simply beautiful space serving really good, artisan coffee. Concrete and wood dominate the material scheme of this little coffee shop, and I highly recommend it. Just be prepared to wait a little while, its artisan coffee after all.
Where to go when you want a quick escape from Central’s Chaos: W Hong Kong
This is forever my favorite hotel in Hong Kong. Its fun and lively yet refined and calming. I posted up here for the better part of four hours, hanging by the pool, eating jalapeno poppers, and drinking a damn good latte.
Where to go when you want famous, local grub for cheap: Dim Sum Square
Sure, the line is usually long, but it’s long for a reason. Dim Sum Square is great, and not to mention cheap, which is tough to find in a city like Hong Kong. Deal with the line, and it’ll pay off.
Where to have a drink at the best rooftop bar in the city: Piqniq
I’m from LA, which means I NEED a good rooftop bar experience no matter where I travel. Piqniq satisfies this desire. With cute decor, unreal views, and solid cocktails, this is a spot you can’t miss, especially when the weather is nice.
Where to get drinks and lose your phone: Iron Fairies
This bar, overcrowding aside, is SUPER cool. Its a tiny space which got quite brutal, and ended up causing a buddy of mine to lose his phone, but the awesome aesthetic, great music and reasonably priced drinks, this is a great place to go before you hit one of the many world-famous clubs in the nearby Lan Kwai Fong.
Where to play sports in the middle of skyscrapers: Southorn Playground
I promise, this will be the coolest game of pickup basketball or soccer you’ve ever played. Even in the heat of June, we balled out for over an hour with the locals in the shadows of Hong Kong’s insane skyline (granted, it was a good way to get rid of our hangovers).
That’s all for this post. I have two others on Hong Kong, so if you want more tips on things to do, check them out!
