Singapore in 12 Hours

Singapore is one of the coolest cities in the world, in my opinion. Its an architect’s dream city, with the most innovative sustainable concepts and developments imaginable. But, its also pretty boring. A day is more than enough time, so here’s what to do:

Chinatown

Start by walking around Chinatown. There are a few beautiful temples and streets, and really no guidance is needed when you’re here. Just keep roaming and see what you stumble upon! We happened to stumble into quite an expansive weekend market on our trip, which was a fun surprise.

After a morning in Chinatown, you simply must have lunch at Lau Pa Sat. This is one of the best “hawker” centers in Singapore, and maybe the world, thanks to Singapore’s diversity. Whether you want Chinese, Indian, Malaysian, or just a burger, you can find it all here (and for cheap).

Then, you gotta head to the Raffles for a step into Singapore’s royal past, and enjoy a drink at Long Bar to have the original Singapore Sling!

Then, make your way down to the Bay area. A stop at the Merlion for a necessary Singaporean photo op, then make your way around the bay, stopping to see all the magnificent architecture (opera house, helix bridge, etc.)

Gardens by the Bay

Then, a visit into the Gardens by the Bay is an absolute must. To see the Flower Dome and other exhibits, you may need a reservation (depending on time of year), so make sure to consider that. Its an absolutely spectacular space, complete with the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, beautiful flora, and ideal instagram opportunities. This is probably the most must do thing in Singapore, in my humble opinion.

Marina Bay Sands

Once you make your way around the Gardens, head into the Marina Bay Sands Mall, which has everything you could possibly imagine. Shop away before heading up to the Skydeck at the Marina Bay Sands, so make a reservation at either Ce La Vie or Lavo (I slightly lean Lavo for food and ambiance, but Ce La Vie for more fun vibes). The sunset/night views from up here are awesome.

I have more things to do and see in Singapore in earlier blogs from past visits, but if you have just a quick layover or just a day, this is your itinerary. You’re welcome.
