JetBlue Mint
Private suite to fly me across the country? Yeah, I'll take that. JetBlue's new Mint experience is the best domestic first class, and seriously competes with international first classes. Here's why:
Seat
It totally rocks. Mostly if you are able to snag one of the individual "suites" complete with a door to enhance your privacy even further. The seat has like 27 power outlets so even Tim Cook can charge each and every Apple device at a time. And there is more than enough table space and surface area to hold everything as well. The seat is flanked on either side by two massive tables and storage compartments that are large enough to fit everything and keep the seat itself perfectly clear of any clutter.
In contrast, the normal 2x2 seats are also fantastic, but considerably less so than the individual seats. It basically goes from having a little bit too much of everything to a normal first class seat. Everything you need is still there, but in moderation rather than in excess. Still though, for a domestic first class product, it's tough to beat, regardless of which seat you're in.
Sleep
To be entirely honest, it wasn't great. The crazy amount of storage resulted in a tiny cubby space that made it very restricting for my feet. I ended up falling asleep in the fetal position. But hey, the fact that I got to sleep while laying down on the flight was totally awesome so I was definitely not complaining at all! The amenity kit gives you the essentials for what you would need, although they used to be Birch Box which would have been fantastic. Again, no complaining from me!
Food
JetBlue's Mint Service has a slightly different approach to on board meal service. Essentially, they offer five options (four on red-eyes) of smaller entrees, and you then have your choice of three of them. Frankly, each and every dish I had was great (and I even stayed awake on the red-eye to try a little bit of everything - sacrifices, I know!) and was the perfect amount. There is a good variety of flavors, including vegetarian options, and I was very impressed with the food overall.
Service
This is where JetBlue sets itself apart from the competition in my opinion. When you board, you're welcomed with an incredibly warm smile, and a little note on your seat courtesy of the flight attendants. They then come around to each and every person, offer one of their signature JetBlue cocktails, and introduce themselves along with the seat and all of its features. I'll be real with you, the personality of the cabin on this flight from one superficial city to another was not necessarily the most friendly, but nevertheless, the crew did a great job dealing with the egos and weirdos. Huge thumbs up to the crew, and to JetBlue, when it comes to service.
Entertainment
This is another area where JetBlue shines. Having free WiFi that actually works is massive. Seriously, gogo WiFi on American Airlines or Delta or whatever is straight up garbage. You pay money for a service that barely works. With JetBlue's FlyFi, you get free, usable internet (as long as you are over the continental United States). Plus, each and every seat has access to DirecTV, where you can watch live TV anytime, something that is seriously crucial when there are important sporting events that need to be watched.
