Jetsuite x
Flying private for the same price as a Southwest ticket? Sounds impossible, but it actually is possible - almost.
JetSuiteX has been on my radar for years and I finally got the opportunity to fly it from Southern California to the Bay Area in 2020. The one way flight was $80, and might be the coolest $80 I’ve ever spent, and here’s why.
I left my class in downtown LA at 4:45 on a Friday afternoon for my 5:30 flight out of Burbank airport. If you know anything about LA, you might be thinking that I am an absolute mad man. But here’s the thing. Flying with JetSuiteX is not your normal flying experience. The soft-product of JetSuiteX is basically the same as a private jet, meaning you can arrive at the airport at basically the same time as your flight. So after a 45 minute drive (and admittedly some nerves given that this was completely out of the norm for a flight), I showed up at the private hanger (yes, a hanger, not the general terminal with peasant common folk paying the same price as me), showed a lady my ticket, and was good to go.
Security was a breeze, you don’t have to deal with the nuisance of TSA. Instead, you walk through a little detector machine thing, you get your bags wiped down and checked, and you’re good to go within 30 seconds.
The lounge in the hangar offers some light snacks, coffee and soft-drinks. You can play some football or cornhole as well. The whole vibe was just so different that I couldn’t stop smiling and photographing it.
This flight was delayed for about 20 minutes or so, which wasn’t a big deal to me. But once it was time to board, we walked to the entrance of the hanger, got our ticket checked once again, and then walked out to our plane like boss ass celebrities.
Once on board, I found the seats to be basically what you’d find in an economy plus / premium economy cabin. You get great leg room and solid seat width. There are no TV’s but there is WiFi on board which is a plus. But the biggest plus of flying JetSuiteX is the fact that alcohol is unlimited. One hour flight, two gin and tonics, and I was having a good time. The whole vibe of the flight was also massively different from flying commercial. People were just having a good time, drinking, interacting with each other, playing games, etc. etc. It almost felt like I was at a bar, but 20,000 feet in the air.
So yeah, if you can, definitely fly with JetSuiteX. It reduces the time of travel SIGNIFICANTLY, and is also just a super cool alternative to the standard flying routine.
