Air France 777-300ER Business Class

$600 to upgrade on my 10 hour flight to Miami? Sign me up! Here’s what it was like flying on Air France business class on their 777-300ER.

Pre-boarding: D

I did not have time to check out the lounge as I was on a tight layover, but the boarding process itself was an absolute shit show and was a terrible way to start of the experience. Let’s move on.

Cabin: C+

It’s simple and clean, much like what you would expect from French design. Lots of whites with hints of reds and dashes of blue, seats laid out in the much preferred 1-2-1 layout. I will say, minimalism appreciation aside, the cabin just felt cold and lacked personality. So that’s that.

Seat: B+

There is tons of storage, great privacy, a large (but kind of clunky) TV, outlets, mirror, and plenty of legroom. The seat itself was cushioned nicely, and had good width. All in all, a solid seat.

Entertainment: B

Its solid, but nothing special. And the TV itself is also not the sleekest. But I mostly worked on my laptop on this flight anyway.

Food: A-

Not QUITE up to the very high French standards, but damn close. Both meals on this flight were great, just missing a little extra oomph (not uncommon with French food in my opinion anyway).

Service: B

They’re French, what do you expect. Honestly, overall, the service was fine. It just did not go above and beyond like some other airlines (See: Qatar, Singapore) do nowadays.

Overall: B-

It’s a fine product with a comfortable seat and good food. It is not on par with the Middle East airlines or Singapore, and not quite at the level even of Polaris or Delta One. But, for $600, it was absolutely totally and completely worth every penny.
