Sai daeng resort

Perfectly located on one of the best peninsulas with pristine snorkeling, beaches and views, Sai Dang Resort has enormous potential, but just misses the mark.

Location: A

It really does not get any better on Koh Tao in my opinion. You’re close enough to the city center, but isolated to feel a sense of privacy and seclusion. The views are incredible, and beach is one of the island’s best.

Rooms: A-

Again, views here are the star of the show. But the spaces themselves were actually pretty awesome as well. We had two rooms - one a standard ocean view, which was super nice, and the other was the crown jewel of the hotel, the Eagle’s Nest. The Eagle’s Nest has a unique pool, huge rooftop terrace, and the most spectacular bathroom ever, all of which is built straight into the massive boulders on the top end of the peninsula. Its a spectacular hotel room, perfect for two people.

Service: C+

It’s honestly just non existent. The staff is all there, they clean the rooms, and that’s about it.

Food: B-

Restaurant just felt abandoned honestly, and food was meh, especially breakfast. Truly nothing at all to write home about.

Amenities: B

There’s a beautiful pool with views of the bay, but its not well maintained and quite cold. Not much else at the hotel but at the end of the day, you’re here to explore nature. There USED to be a waterslide here, but it was banned which freaking sucks because it looks awesome.

Scene: Again, the hotel just felt abandoned and had a weird vibe to it. All my Thailand hotel reviews seem to follow suit, so maybe this is because of the pandemic, but yeah, just very quiet and almost eerie.

It just felt like the hotel had all the necessary elements for truly one of the most spectacular hotels in the country, but non existent service, poor maintenance, average food and just a feeling of emptiness made it meh overall.
