Treehouse villas koh yao noi

This MIGHT just be the most unique hotel in Thailand. Located on the low-key island of Koh Yao Noi is the Treehouse Villas. It’s on a beautiful, secluded bay flanked by towering limestone cliffs with hornbills flying by every five minutes. Here’s what I thought of the hotel.

Location: B+

The beach is stunning during high tide, and gross during low tide. So just be warned. For nature lovers, this is as great of a location as it gets. The hotel is super secluded, with great hiking trails, coves to kayak to, and views to make your jaw drop. But, with that seclusion, means there’s just absolutely nothing within a 30 minute radius. So when you stay here, you’re really staying just here.

Rooms: A-

Each rooms is split across two levels. The bottom floor has a plunge pool, dining table, lounge chairs and a convenient bathroom. The top floor has a super comfortable bed with romantic mosquito netting (this would actually come in handy a few times for us), small desk area, and a beautiful, huge bathroom with a unique layout and a stingray shaped bathtub. The only reason this rooms isn’t getting an A? The water from the shower leaked all over the floor, and would even seep down and drip onto the bottom pool deck!

Food: B+

The food is great honestly, its just pricey. Which is fair from an economic standpoint because the hotel has nothing in the vicinity, which means you ain’t got no other choice but to eat here. In terms of flavor and portion size though, we loved it all. Also, not being able to room service breakfast? That was a bit of a bummer.

Amenities: B+

This would have been an A if things weren’t closed thanks to COVID. There’s a beautiful steam room set within the rocks which was closed, the gym was too far and not taken enough care of, and the spa was just too pricey. We did get a kick out of the T-shirt making area, which used traditional methods to paint T-shirts with your own designs. Overall, there’s plenty of options at the Treehouse Villas, but we just didn’t get to properly experience it all given the nature of the times.

Service: B+

We found everyone to be very friendly at the property and had no issues with the service overall. The staff were very helpful in setting up our arrival and departure, everything was on time, and they also were of great assistance in coordinating tours for us. The waiters, bell men, and boat drivers were all wonderful as well! Not quite at the A level, but very close indeed.
