Amalfi Coast
Arguably one of the most beautiful places in the world, with its terraced cliffs, azure waters, magical towns and oversized lemons, the Amalfi Coast is truly a sight to behold. No matter where you stay, you are guaranteed to have a great time, and here are some of my recommendations for how to thrive.
Where to go for the best views: Ravello
Stay here and enjoy sweeping views from the Infinity Gardens or while having a drink at the Belmond Caruso or Palazzo Avino. Ravello is a beautiful town as well with great shopping, and is a must visit in the Amalfi Coast.
Where to go when you want an exclusive beachside experience for relatively cheap: Lido Degli Artisti
Make reservations in advance here and hop on their boat from Amalfi to their private beach club (or walk 450 steps, if that’s your vibe). The food here is amazing, and while the service is kind of meh, the scenery is truly spectacular. Plus, it isn’t really that expensive compared to other restaurants with similar experiences. Just watch out for the owner, he’s a flirt.
Where to go when you want to feel like a God flying in the clouds: Path of the Gods
Get up to Bomerano and begin your 4 hour hike down to Positano, which really is one of the best hikes in the world. It isn’t too challenging, and the views throughout are simply mesmerizing (just dont get too mesmerized, because the cliffs are intense). Then, from there, explore Positano, grab a pizza, and hop on a ferry back to your respective town.
Where to go to dine with celebrities: Nerano
We ate at Le Scoglio in Nerano and it was simply unreal. Fresh seafood on a pier overlooking a stunning beach, surely surrounded by celebrities. And, at the end of lunch, it became a party with water soakers and champagne showers! Because why not!
Where to have a birthday lunch: Beach Club Gioia
Located in Anacapri, the much better and less crowded side of Capri, this restaurant is simply stunning. Antonio is the man and will hook you up for your birthday as well!
Where to see some caves: Not Capri
Look, Capri is famous for its Blue Grotto, which is great, but its a zoo and a half to experience it. Instead, go to the Cathedral Cave, the river waterfall cave (literally has no name) and the upside cave on a tour with Jackie from Amalfi Sails! It was quite literally one of the best days ever.
Where to stay if you have a family of 12: Dimora Di Mare
This is our family gem, but now you know. I really don’t know the pricing, but whatever it is, its worth it. This villa is the best option to stay in the area if you are traveling with a big family - its location, the staff, the food, the everything is just right!
Amalfi is a lot. There is so much to see and do, not just on the coast too. You can head into Naples, see Pompeii, explore the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius. And Amalfi is very expensive as well. It is not convenient. There is no “cheap” way to really do Amalfi. But, one thing is for sure - every penny is worth it.
