Samui Day Trip

The TikTok I made of this trip went viral viral, so that was pretty cool. Like almost at 600k views, which was big for me. Lots of hate though! Fuck em. Anyway, here’s what I did that went viral.

Woke up bright and early after a long night out partying. Operating on about 3 hours of sleep, I hopped on the airport link and went over to the airport to meet a friend and fly an hour down to the island of Samui. For a full review of Samui in greater depth, check out the Koh Samui blog.

Once we landed, we walked out of the airport and found a place next to the nearby 711 and FamilyMart to rent a motorbike. We spent about the equivalent of $5 to rent this bike for the entire day.

First stop was at the Coccoon Restaurant Samui. I seriously can not rave about this place enough. The views are amazing, and the owners know it. They built this mesh net bed overhanging from the restaurant that is truly perfect for photos. You have views out over the entire northeast end of the island to go along with a great selection of Thai and Western food (all at a great price too, I might add - my eggs benedict was about $4). Plus, they have a cool DJ playing, some merchandise you can buy, and an overall very chill and welcoming vibe. Definitely a place I highly recommend making a pit stop at.

Then, we went down to the beach, AKA the reason why I flew down. For some reason, I was getting antsy and needed a burger on the beach. Plus, I had heard about the SEEN Beach CLub in Samui, and it looked super nice so it was on my radar. A few spontaneous decisions later and whoops, there I was, having a (delicious) burger on the beach. With a minimum charge of $10, beautiful retro-style decor, multiple bars, a huge pool with swim-up bar and pumping music, this beach club is, well, the place to be seen on Samui. I did a good amount of research beforehand, and SEEN really is the best beach club on the island. The staff were all super chill, easy to get a hold of, and more than willing to have a conversation. It really is tough what these guys have to go through with COVID, but I truly hope that this newly opened beach club can make it through these tough times because when the people can return, this place will be absolutely packed to the max! Plus, its conveniently located right on Chaweng Beach, which is sort of the epicenter of all of the activities on the island and not to mention just a 10 minute ride from the airport. So I highly recommend spending at least half a day at SEEN Beach Club.

After eating the burger, downing a few pina coladas, lounging in the pool, playing in the waves and walking up and down the beach, it was time to head on back. We drove to the shop where we got the bikes, then walked literally through some grass and straight into security from the grass. Which was absurd. I couldn’t get over the fact that we had just done that, so much so that I tried to video the experience, but was promptly yelled at and pulled aside and told to delete it. Fucker. Anyway, ate dinner at the lounge and flew on home! A great experience for sure.
