Interlaken
Interlaken is located between two lakes (see: city name) and is one of the most picturesque towns imaginable. It is also considered the adrenaline capital of the world. Sky diving, paragliding, skiing, rafting - the list goes on and on of things to do here. And here’s what we did on our one night trip through Interlaken
Where to stay: Hotel Interlaken
Its an iconic, historic hotel with modern amenities, a great location and one of the better values you will find in the city. We loved our quick stay here and would definitely recommend it.
Where to see the most breathtaking sunset: Lauterbrunnen
We had some last minute changes in plan, but boy did it work in our favor. We ended up going to Lauterbrunnen much later in the day, and as a result we got to see a gloriously pink sunset over this quaint mountain village complete with a dramatic waterfall cascading down the enormous cliffs which flank on either side. We had a quick hot chocolate at a fun little bar/restaurant in town and just roamed the city for a couple hours. Also, the train ride in and out feels like a fairytale. Definitely make sure Lauterbrunnen is on your agenda in Switzerland.
Where to have a great fondue with good vibes on the side: Brasserie 17
This is one of the more popular joints in town, and its not hard to see why. A great selection of food, including awesome fondue, plus an eclectic design and wide selection of beer makes this a must visit.
And then another note - we TRIED to go paragliding, which is what Interlaken is famous for, but thanks to frustrating weather, we were not able to. We were fully refunded, and ended up with nothing more than these amazing pictures (which, considering they were free, was worth the wasted 3 hours).
